McIntosh is the county seat of Corson County in northwestern South Dakota on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. The school district covers 919 square miles. Communities participating in the McIntosh School District include McIntosh, Morristown, Watauga, Bullhead, Isabel, McLaughlin, Little Eagle, and others from the rural southwestern region of North Dakota.

 

The main employers in the McIntosh area include the school, county and state and federal government offices, ranches, farms, and small community businesses. Agriculture is the community's predominant industry. McIntosh School is a school-wide Title 1 school, so that all students eat breakfast and lunch at no cost to them.

 

The McIntosh School District 15-1 is comprised of one attendance center encompassing students from Preschool - 12th grade. Phase I for construction of a new school begins in spring 2023 with PK-junior high, and special education classrooms.
